Tuesday, June 13, 2023 – Colin Darke has joined GwC as an attorney and advisor. Colin comes to us from the Rocket family of companies, where he has been for the past eight years, playing a crucial role in organizing and establishing Rocket Loans, an online lending platform.
As a driving force behind Rocket Loans, Colin successfully organized and oversaw the entire compliance and legal structure, which has become a model for the marketplace lending industry. Under his guidance, Rocket Loans expanded its product offerings, including licensing technology to the federal government and, most recently, introducing a secured loan product for solar panels. In addition to leading the legal and compliance teams, Colin also led various other teams during his tenure, including marketing, technology, and operations. He was also an executive leadership coach for the Rocket companies, coaching, and mentoring leaders throughout the organization. Finally, Colin was part of the team that took Rocket public in 2020.
In his practice, Colin represents banks, financial institutions, and emerging and established fintech companies with their legal and compliance needs. He counsels on interstate lending related to secured and unsecured consumer lending programs, federal and state inquiries, the development of compliance management systems, and state-by-state licensing.
Prior to Rocket Loans, he was Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Flagstar Bank, where he provided legal support to its community banking activities. Colin was also in private practice for several years with a focus on creditors’ rights and banking law. Colin is a frequent speaker and moderator on fintech and consumer lending matters.
